Bright Eyes Daycare & Early Learning Center is located in Sioux Falls near 77th & Minnesota Ave, in the private Garden Village Association development and is a few blocks east of Journey Elementary.
Bright Eyes has been providing the Sioux Falls area with exceptional quality child care and year-round early education (preschool & pre-K) since September, 2013. There is OVER 6,400 square feet of learning! In addition to spacious rooms for infants, mobiles and toddlers, Bright Eyes has a very large and open space for our preschool and pre-k programs. All ages have access to our art and music/movement rooms. We believe it is important for children to be able to run and play, which is why we love playing outside in our large playground.
As a bonus, our property is located in a private neighborhood with access to our own nature path that we frequently take advantage of when the kids want to venture beyond the fence. Ducks, geese, frogs, fish, hawks, and even the occasional preying mantis are seen on our many walking adventures :)
Your child's early development years are vital to instilling a positive perspective towards learning. At Bright Eyes, our educational program is top-notch. We believe in giving outstanding, personal attention to children while keeping parents informed of their child's daily activities and developmental progress. Our teachers create a positive and fun learning environment that builds confidence and an individualized sense of self ◘
Mandy & Nate Petersen are no strangers to child care. They developed their passion for early education while working at the University of South Dakota Vucurevich Children's Center in Vermillion, SD.
After completing her MBA from USD, Mandy pursued her passion for assisting her community by overseeing fundraising events for the The National MS Society and later for the Sanford Children's Hospital. Following graduation (also from the U... go Yotes!) and employment as a National Director of Finance, Nate later decided to follow his entrepreneurial spirit by developing and launching a Sioux Falls community driven business.
After the arrival of their two children, Rheanna (10 yrs) and Finnian (8 yrs), Mandy and Nate decided to combine their prior experiences, their professional careers, and their passion to provide children the structure and safe environment they have always desired for their own children by creating Bright Eyes Daycare.
Mandy and Nate pride themselves on being present at the daycare every day to ensure their high standards of quality and their vision are always being met. Their passion for quality is evident in the vow they both made 2 years prior to opening Bright Eyes, in that they would never exceed one location. In other words, their focus is and will always be "quality before quantity!" ◘
Shelly is Bright Eyes Preschool & Pre-K Program Director. Shelly graduated from South Dakota State University with her degree in Early Childhood Education with an endorsement in Special Education.
Before joining Bright Eyes since its inception, Shelly had directed two childcare centers. After her experience directing centers, Shelly joined the Sioux Falls School District, where she enjoyed 11 years as an Early Childhood Special Education teacher.
"I love watching young children grow and learn through hands-on activities that lead them to explore, create, imagine and problem solve in all areas of their individual development"
~ Shelly ~
Outside of Bright Eyes, Shelly loves to read, spend time with friends and family, which includes her husband Dan and two boys, Nick (13) and Chris (11) ◘
Charide (chair-i-dee) is Bright Eyes Program Director for children under 3 years of age. Charide has received her Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential™ from The CDA Council.
Charide has demonstrated herself to be a passionate leader and devoted educator of our youngest children, since joining our team the day we first opened. Prior to Bright Eyes, Charide operated her own successful in-home child care in Madison, SD.
"One of my favorite things about working with kids under 3 is being able to witness children's reactions to acheiving milestones"
~ Charide ~
When not at Bright Eyes, Charide enjoys cooking creative healthy meals for her husband Matt and son Cameron (15). She also enjoys camping, going to the races at Thunder Valley, and broadening her knowledge in childhood education through researching new and fun learning activities ◘
It should go without saying that providing top-notch care and education for your child is our goal. However, the safety of your child is, above all, our first priority!
We believe in keeping things simple in order to minimize human error. Therefore, our center’s child drop-off and pick-up plan allows for only 1 point of entry and exit.
Upon reaching our outside main doors, you will first be greeted by a security card scanner in order to gain access to our reception/greeting room. And don’t forget to smile for the video camera! This is where Nate & Mandy will greet and wave good-bye to you and your child every day. Once you scan your card and say "hi", now you need to scan your card yet again but this time you also need to scan your finger on the biometric scanner in order to enter the classrooms/play area.
OVER 10 security cameras capture video and store footage for employee training purposes and/or if a parent has a concern that video might help alleviate.
So as you can see, we’ve taken the subject of security very seriously. Why? Because your children are your world and when they are part of the Bright Eyes family, they become our world, too ◘
Unfortunately all age groups currently require getting on our waiting list until something opens up. Should a spot become available in the future we will always check our waiting list first. If you are pregnant/expecting and want to enroll or get your child on our waiting list, then please call to see when our next tour begins (or just check the home page of this site for the schedule).
We take pride in creating a safe and secure environment for our children, therefore we do not accept unscheduled visits from non-enrolled families, so please call first. We have family tours once every month for those interested in joining or learning more about our center ◘
